John Lancashire, also known as The Monday Painter, emigrated to Australia with his family from England as a young boy. He attended art school in Sydney briefly but is largely self-taught, developing his own very distinctive impressionist style of painting.

John has exhibited consistently over the last decade or more, gathering a loyal base of paint enthusiasts. His works can be found in private collections, here in Hawke's Bay and abroad.

"My aim is to explore the possibilities of painting through a select collection of subject matter. My work is generally ‘ local ‘ ie: a reflection of where I am physically and holistically: a communique to the collective."
